These terms govern your use of Polybear, an independent student project. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Polybear.

Play money only

Polybear uses Big Red Bucks (BRB), a virtual currency with no monetary value. BRB cannot be purchased, sold, transferred between users, exchanged for anything of value, or cashed out, and there are no prizes. Polybear is a forecasting game, not gambling, a financial service, or investment advice. Prices are crowd estimates and may be wrong.

Eligibility and accounts

• You must have a valid Cornell email address and be at least 18.
• One account per person. Creating extra accounts, or coordinating to move BRB between accounts, is not allowed.
• You're responsible for activity on your account. Keep access to your email secure.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone, or post hateful, sexual, or illegal content.
• Post private information about anyone, or create or promote content that violates these market rules: Not allowed: markets about private individuals (students, TAs, non-public staff), anyone's relationships, health, deaths, assaults, discipline or Title IX cases, immigration status, or a single student's grades/admissions. Public figures in their public role, campus events, sports, weather, and aggregate stats are fair game.
• Manipulate markets using bots, scripts, or multiple accounts, or exploit bugs (please report them instead).
• Attempt to access other accounts, overload the service, or interfere with its security.

Markets and resolution

Each market lists its resolution rules and sources. Polybear moderators resolve markets in good faith based on official announcements or credible reporting, and their decision is final. We may cancel a market and refund positions if it's ambiguous, mistaken, or violates our rules. We may correct balances affected by errors or abuse.

Your content

You own what you post. By posting comments or suggestions, you give Polybear permission to display them on the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms, at our discretion.

No affiliation

Polybear is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Cornell University. Cornell names are used only to describe events.

Disclaimers

Polybear is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may change, pause, or shut down the service, reset balances or leaderboards (for example, between seasons), or modify features at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Polybear and its operators are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
